What a view! - The view from our Kitchen.

The Royal Oak is a traditional, 300 year old black and white country pub and eating house. Our team is growing and we’re looking for two energetic, loyal and hard working Kitchen Assistants / Cooks to join us.

We are the only pub on the beautiful Bromyard Downs and are surrounded by acres of beautiful downland meaning lots of our guests enjoy great walks and stunning scenery before joining us for some good quality pub food.

We offer a big welcome, roaring log fires and a comfortable, home-from-home setting.

The Role

We are looking for 2 Kitchen Assistants/Cooks.

You’ll be working in a busy kitchen in a beautiful, family run and independently owned and highly regarded country pub and eating house. Our objective is to provide a welcoming environment and that ethos starts in the kitchen - so you’ll be a big part of our team.

As part of our extensive menu, we serve a selection of mouthwatering home-made pies and chillies, but also offer menus for celiacs, vegetarians and cater for other dietary requirements wherever we can. We have an ever changing specials board and your input to our menu will become invaluable.

About You

Whilst you will be supporting our head cook, you will have experience of working in a commercial kitchen. Perhaps having gained experience from another pub or restaurant? Or perhaps you’re a graduate of catering college? Either way we’d like to hear from you.

Being one of our Kitchen Assistants/Cooks is a great role, it’s busy and is often hard work - but you'll be rewarded by good rates of pay and a supportive family management team who are always on hand. Development and training is ongoing.

We currently hold a 5-Star score for food hygiene on the ‘scores-on-the-doors' system as issued by Herefordshire County Council and you’ll play a big part in making sure we retain this top rating.

Why Us?

Apart from a great team, supportive management and good pay, you’ll find that as the pub stands some 197 metres above sea level that you’ll enjoy fantastic views from our kitchen; right across the valley and over the market town of Bromyard. The Black Mountains of Wales sit on the horizon and you’ll witness beautiful sunsets every evening. The perfect antidote to a busy day in the kitchen.
